Abstract:

Orygmalpheus polites, new genus, new species, is described on the basis of a single, female specimen from Hansa Bay, Papua New Guinea. The new genus is characterised by the absence of a rostrum, orbital teeth, the absence of an articulated plate on the sixth pleosomite and by the sub-symmetrical feebly armed and sculpted first chelipeds. The specimen was obtained from a burrow inhabited by Alpheus rapacida and a goby, Vanderhorstia sp.
