Alpheus bellimanus Lockington, 1877
Alpheus bellimanus is a snapping shrimp from the eastern Pacific, and belongs in the Macrocheles species group within the genus Alpheus (Kim and Abele 1988).
Alpheus bellimanus is in the Macrocheles (="Megacheles") species group within the genus Alpheus (Kim and Abele 1988). Type locality: San Diego, CA, USA (Lockington 1877).
Habitat: low intertidal to 300 m; dredged on sand, rocks, suft mud or gravel (Kim and Abele 1988).
Maximum body size (carapace length, or CL) of males is 14.1 mm; females, 8.5 mm. Color: Body olive green, with orange-tipped tail fan; tips of chelae and branchial regions orange (summarized in Kim and Abele 1988).
Eastern Pacific: Monterey, California, USA south to southern Gulf of California, western Mexico, Panama, Chile, Colombia and the Galapagos islands (Kim and Abele 1988, Wicksten 2008).
