Alpheus hyeyoungae Kim and Abele, 1988
Alpheus hyeyoungae is a snapping shrimp from the eastern Pacific, first described from Mexico. It can be found among rocks, sand, and coral, in intertidal to shallow subtidal areas.
Alpheus hyeyoungae belongs to the Edwardsii species group within the genus Alpheus (Kim and Abele 1988). Named after Mrs. Hyeyoung Kim. Type locality: Rincon de los Guayabitas, Mexico (Kim and Abele 1988), types stored at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution (USNM). Holotype: USNM 229926.
Free-living in rock, sand beach, and coral, intertidal to 1.3 m (Kim and Abele 1988).
Maximum body size (carapace length, or CL) of males is 13.1 mm; females, 10.3 mm (Kim and Abele 1988).
