Synalpheus amabilis is an Indo-West Pacific snapping shrimp first described from Indonesia. It has been reported from several habitats, including coralline algae, sponges, and coral heads.
Systematics and Identification:
Synalpheus amabilis was first described from Banda, eastern Indonesia by de Man (1910) (referenced in Chace 1988). Types stored at the Zoölogisch Museum, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (ZMA). For additional descriptions, see Chace (1988).
Habitat and Host Associations:
Chace (1988) reported this species from coralline algae, sponges, and coral heads, intertidal to 36 m depth.
Distribution:
Indo-West Pacific: Banda Sea, Indonesia; Basilan Strait and Sulu archipelago, Philippines (Chace 1988).
