Synalpheus barahonensis is a Caribbean snapping shrimp in the Gambarelloides species species group within the genus Synalpheus, and has been reported from Caribbean Panama and the Dominican Republic.
Synalpheus barahonensis is a member of the Gambarelloides species group within the genus Synalpheus. Named after the type locality from which it was first described (Barahona Harbor, Dominican Republic) Type locality: Barahona Harbor, Dominican Republic (Armstrong, 1949), types stored at the American Museum of Natural History, New York, NY. Holotype: AMNH 9578, allotype: none.
Natural history of S. barahonensis is largely unknown; known only from the type locality (from a live colony of the coral Agaricia sp.) and from coral rubble samples in Panama (Duffy 1992)
