Synalpheus lani Hermoso, Alvarez, and Boyko 2005
Synalpheus lani is an Eastern Pacific snapping shrimp, found in coral rubble at shallow depths (Hermoso et al. 2005).
Maximum body size is 3 mm CL (females and males) (Hermoso et al. 2005). Morphologically similar to Synalpheus superus, S. sanjosei, and S. mexicanus, but can be distinguished from these by the relatively more elongated major chela lacking a spine of the dorsodisal margin of the merus (Hermoso et al. 2005).
Synalpheus lani is named after Leonardo Alcantara Nolansco (the companion of the first author). Type locality: Punta Mita, Nayarit, Mexico (Hermoso et al. 2005), types stored at the Coleccion Nacional de Crustaceos, Instituto de Biologia, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (CNCR). Holotype: CNCR 12817.
