Alpheus tasmanicus belongs to the Edwardsii species group within the genus Alpheus (Banner and Banner 1982). Named after the type locality (Tasmania). Type locality: Tasmania, Australia (Banner and Banner 1982), types stored at the Australian Museum, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (AM). Type: AM P31484.
Morphology:
Maximum body size is 22 mm (total length) (Banner and Banner 1982).
