Alpheus tenuicarpus de Man, 1908
Alpheus tenuicarpus is a snapping shrimp from the Indo-West Pacific Ocean and the Red Sea, and is typically found in deeper waters.
Alpheus tenuicarpus belongs to the Brevirostris species group within the genus Alpheus (de Man 1908). Type locality: Kwandang Bay and Sapeh Bay, east coast of Sumbawa, Indonesia (de Man 1908), types stored at the Zoölogisch Museum, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (ZMA).
Depth range 36-75 m (Banner and Banner 1981), to 150-180 fathoms (de Man 1908).
Maximum body size is (total body length) 13 mm (male), 13.5 mm (ovigerous female); morphologically similar to Alpheus paralpheopsides (de Man 1908).
Indo-West Pacific: Indonesia (de Man 1908); Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea (Banner and Banner 1981); Reunion Islands (Poupin 2008).
